ON THE EFFECTS OF QUANTIZATION ON MISMATCHED PULSE COMPRESSION FILTERS DESIGNED USING L-p NORM MINIMIZATION TECHNIQUES

چکیده
In [1] the authors introduced a technique for generating mismatched pulse compression filters for linear frequency chirp signals. The technique minimizes the sum of the pulse compression sidelobes in an p L –norm sense. It was shown that extremely constant sidelobe levels (better than 60 dB) can be achieved for minimal mismatch loss and broadening of the compression peak. This paper reports on an investigation into the effect of quantization on pulse compression filters designed using the abovementioned technique. Simulation results for 8-bit and 16-bit implementations of a pulse compressor system are presented.

High Resolution Weather Radar through Pulse Compression
In order to evaluate pulse compression for use in phased array weather radar systems, modifications to the Time-Series Weather Radar Simulator have been made which incorporate phase-coding into its functionality. This allows for evaluating the performance of various pulse compression schemes under controlled conditions. Barker-coded pulses with matched and mismatched filters were examined in re...

The matched filter in the radar receiver is only adapted to the transmitted signal version and its output will be wasted due to non-matching with the received signal from the environment. The sidelobes amplitude of the matched filter output in pulse compression radars are dependent on the transmitted coded waveforms that extended as much as the length of the code on both sides of the target loc...

Optimal finite impulse response (FIR) error feedback filters for noise shaping in modulators are designed by using weighting functions based on the system norms. We minimize the weighted norms of the quantization error in the output of a modulator, which corresponds to the minimization of the system norm. Three norms, the H2 system norm, the H∞ system norm, and the l1 norm of the impulse respon...
